Elevate Festival 2007
The elevate "Schlossberg" festival 2007 has dedicated this years workshop sessions to discuss democracy and the impact of the evolving world wide communication possibilities.
What does it mean for the freedom of people to have self owned communication infrastructure, free software and networks. New "virtual friends" can be spread all over the world and global communities are founded where special interest groups suddenly are not allone anymore but can globally unite their focus. In the same time mass media dictates the topics to be discussed, permanent surveillence is established (for our security of cource) and questionable election machines are attacking the very basics of democracy.
